Under this scheme, an annual financial assistance to the tune of Rs.10.00 lakh is extended to a player who has the potential to win medals at international level competitions. The assistance is given for purchase of sports equipment and kits, undergoing training abroad, participation in international competitions, etc. At present, 48 sportspersons including 5 Para athletes are getting benefitted under this scheme. Among them, three athletes and one para athlete represented India in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and Paralympics 2020 respectively. The Government sanctions a grant of Rs.5.00 crore every year.
